Founder Members

The founding members of the college have played an important role in the growth and development of the institution. With dedication and commitment, they contributed their time, knowledge, and efforts to support academic and co-curricular activities and also imparted practical legal education to the students along with the academic faculties. Their continuous involvement has helped in creating a positive learning environment for students and strengthening the academic standards of the college. The respected founding members whocontributed significantly to the institution are as follows:

Shri Radhakrishna Gupta.

Died on 22-03-2000

He practiced in both civil and criminal courts of Khandwa (M.P.). He was actively associated with the 'Shri Dhuniwale Dadaji Trust' till his last days. He was the Dean of the faculty of law in 'Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar' and also a member of the Executive Council. He was also the President of Bar Association of Khandwa. He was the first President of 'The Law Education Society Khandwa' and he was the Principal of "Motilal Nehru Law College" for a number of years. He played an important role in the establishment of the college and maintain the academic and professional standards of the college.

Shri P. Subbarao

B.A. LL.B

Born on 1897 1897

Died on 26-03-1976

As an advocate, he practiced in both civil and criminal matters. He was a popular prosecutor and was also appointed as a government pleader for a number of years. He was also the president of Khandwa Municipal Council. He was later elected as a President of The Law Education Society and also the Principal of the college in following years.

Shri K.R.Sakargaye

B.A. LL.B

Born on 26-01-1917

Died on 24-10-2003

He practiced in civil, criminal and revenue matters in the court. As an active member of All India Congress Party, he was a Member of Parliament for a tenure of five years and he was also a member of Legislative assembly of Madhya Pradesh twice. Along with this, he was elected as the President of The Law Education Society and also as the Principal of Motilal Nehru Law College Khandwa (M.P.) for a brief period of time.

Shri B.G. Kerhalkar

B.A. LL.B

Born on 18-11-1905

Died on 25-02-1985

He practiced in Khandwa Court for several years and was a highly respected advocate. He was an active member of the civic society and highly respected by his peers. He contributed significantly to imparting legal education amongst the youth and worked avidly for the upliftment of the college.

Shri M.A. Pagare

B.A. LL.B

Born on 1918.

Died on 09-06-1994

He practiced in civil, criminal and revenue matters at Khandwa Court and was also associated with the Dada Dhuniwale Ashram trust as a trustee. An avid fan of literature, he was also engaged in the activities of Manikya Smarak Vachanalaya, Khandwa.

Shri A.C. Jain.

Born on 23-07-1907

Died on 08-04-1992

He practiced at Khandwa court in civil, criminal and revenue matters and was also appointed as a government pleader for some time. He was elected as the President of Khandwa Bar Association, and was also a highly respected professor of law at the college.

Shri M.G. Kango.

B.A. LL.B. (Maths and English Lit.)

Born on 01-02-1901

Died on 15-02-1974

He practiced at Khandwa court both in civil and criminal matters and also appeared in number of Income Tax matters such as Lucknow, Allahabad, Bombay, Madras benches. He was a Public Prosecutor and a Govt. Pleader for about 6 years. With keen interest in sports like tennis, he advocated for holistic development of students in the college.

Died on 10-02-1997

He practiced at Khandwa court and was a secretary of the District congress committee. He was also a member of the Swatantrata Sangram and had a very keen interest in the field of law.

Shri S.S. De

M.A. LL.B

Born on 15-06-1903

Died on 25-03-1993

He practiced at Khandwa court and was a government Pleader and Public Prosecutor for number of years. He was actively associated with the Manikya Vachanalaya, Khandwa and was the President of Bengali samaj.

Shri Iqbal Shankar

He practiced in criminal matters at Khandwa court and was also associated with the Dadaji Dhuniwale Ashram trust activities

Shri S.D. Sapre

He practiced at Khandwa court and was an expert in Revenue, civil and criminal matters. He was also very engaged in academic activities.

He was an honorable member of Khandwa Bar Association. He was an active member of swatantratasangram and was also the vice president of Khandwa municipal council. He also worked as a correspondent of Nagpur Times.

He was a Lawyer & practiced in civil, criminal and revenue matters and was engaged in education and academics.

He practiced at Khandwa in civil and revenue matters, was the President of Khandwa Bar Association and was also active in social activities.

He practiced as a lawyer in both civil and criminal mattersand was a standing counsel for State Bank of India and a panel Lawyer for other institutions like Forest Department. He was also a member of Swatantrata Sangram Movement.
